After the Races is an accredited, nonprofit organization that rehabilitates and rehomes retiring Thoroughbred racehorses into suitable, long-term homes while promoting the versatility and usefulness of the breed beyond racing. We regularly take horses in from tracks in MD, PA, NJ, and WV. We also accept retiring racehorses directly from any caring connections in the United States that wishes to ship them to our facility in Elkton, MD. Horses are adopted into every kind of riding home, and we happily accept volunteers as well to work with our horses and are happy to work with beginners, but we do not do riding lessons or boarding.
