In 2006, the Baltimore County Office of Community Conservation and Mount Calvary AME Church approached NeighborSpace about acquisition of a site in Historic East Towson “as open space for the usage of community residents and visitors.” With a $40,000 grant from the Baltimore County Office of Community Conservation and an additional $40,000 in NeighborSpace funding, the site’s purchase from the St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center became a reality in March 2007. Then began a long effort to clean up the site and to raise funding for design and construction of a park. In 2013, the County Council, at the urging of 5th District Councilman, David Marks, passed a resolution to name the park for long-time, East Towson leader Adelaide Bentley.
